Alvar W. Gustafson

QUINCY – Alvar W Gustafson, PhD passed away at 72 years of age.
Born in Illinois, Al was raised in Connecticut. After receiving his doctorate from Cornell University, he and his family moved to Massachusetts in 1975 where he joined the faculty of Tufts University School of Medicine in Boston. From 1975 to present he served mainly on the faculty in the Department of Anatomy and Cellular Biology, and most recently in the Department of Medical Education. For the last 12 years, he has also served as the founding Faculty Director of the medical school’s Master of Science in Biomedical Sciences Program.
Al is survived by his wife of 51 years, his son, his mother, two sisters and their families.
A memorial service will be held at a later date, yet to be determined.
