Alfred C. Thomas

Alfred C. Thomas Jr.  88, of Hanson, formerly of Hingham, passed away peacefully on Saturday, August 18, 2018.

Alfred was the only son of Alfred C. Thomas Sr. and Mabel Worcester. He was the loving husband of the late Nancy (Ferguson) Thomas.  He is survived by his children Cynthia Anderson and husband William of CA, Deborah Ivy and husband James of Quincy, Elaine Dann of North Dighton, Kenneth Thomas of RI, and the late Alvin Thomas of Hingham.  Dear brother of the late Helen Wesley and Ethel Fletcher. Alfred has 12 loving grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren. He is also survived by his second wife, Evelyn Hogan of Weymouth and her 5 children, as well as grandchildren.

Alfred was a veteran of the United States Army, serving in the Korean War. He then attended and graduated with a Bachelor’s degree from Suffolk University. Alfred worked as an accountant, employed by Paul McGuire Chevrolet for many years. In his retirement, he developed a passion for photography, with his favorite subjects being lighthouses, boats and his grandchildren. Alfred enjoyed simple things as he got older. He loved people, and made everyone smile. He loved going down by the water while at his cottage in Maine and watching the ships go by. And if there was a lobster plate in front of him, all the better.

Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend the visiting hours on Friday from 4-8 PM in the Pyne Keohane Funeral Home, 21 Emerald St. (off Central St.), HINGHAM. A funeral service will be celebrated on Saturday at 10 AM in the funeral home. Burial in Blue Hill Cemetery, Braintree. In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Alfred may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association, MA Chapter, 309 Waverley Oaks Rd., Waltham, MA 02452.
