Wladyslaw Kwiecien

Wladyslaw “Walter” Kwiecien, 87, of Mansfield, formerly of Quincy, went home to the Lord after a long illness on Friday, October 9, 2015, with his family at his side.

Loving husband for 63 years of Teresa (Szymczyk) Kwiecien. Devoted father of Joanna Owens, Krystyna McPhall and her husband Robert, and Diane Tasselari and her fiancé Boyd Aldrich. Cherished grandfather of Brian, Robert, and Suzanne Owens, Robert McPhall, Samantha McPhall and her boyfriend Andrew McCarthy, Anthony Tasselari and his fiancé Jaynie Jacobs, Matthew Tasselari, and their father John Tasselari, and Christina Tam and her husband Wah-Shing. Beloved great-grandfather of Claudia and Angelina Tam.

Walter was born in Lodz, Poland. He served as a sergeant in the U.S. Army in the Korean War, earning numerous medals and honors. Walter loved polka music, traveling, Polish food, and gardening. His greatest joy, however, was spending time with his family.

Visiting hours are on Thursday, October 15, from 4-8 PM at Keohane Funeral Home, 785 Hancock St., Quincy. Relatives and friends will gather at the funeral home at 8:30 AM on Friday, October 16, prior to the 10:00 AM Funeral Mass at Our Lady of Czestochowa Church, 655 Dorchester Ave., South Boston. Interment at New Calvary Cemetery in Mattapan.
