Winifred T. Nevero

Winifred T. (Higgins) Nevero “Wini” of Boston, died January 23, 2016.

Wini was a selfless and witty woman who lived her life ahead of her time.  She was raised in Boston during the Great Depression with her nine siblings, but during WW2 made the bold move at age 24 across the country by train to San Francisco where help was needed in the war office.  She returned home to Boston, met and married WW2 Marine veteran Joseph Nevero, raised four children and later moved to Weymouth enjoying retirement with Joe.  At 86, she again made a gutsy move to Napa Valley, making new friends and enjoying a California lifestyle, while always remaining a true Bostonian.

She was a devoted mother and grandmother, always taking the right road and not the easy one, as she tirelessly instilled the principles of hard work, smart saving, courtesy, and taking responsibility for one’s actions.  She had endless patience, and flawlessly loved each of her children and grandchildren equally.   If you knew Wini, you loved her. She was kind and generous with a quick wit.  She was a perfect lady at all times.  She will be dearly missed by her family and all her friends.

Beloved wife of the late Joseph P. Nevero. Devoted mother of Stephen Nevero and his wife Diane of Dunstable, Donna Rowland  and her husband Dannie of CA, the late Paul Nevero and  Ann Nevero and her husband Tim Nieman of CA. Cherished Nana of Julie Pepi, Krissy Nevero, Michael Nevero and great-grandson Gavin. Loving sister of Joan Walsh of Milton and the late Catherine Steen, Helen Glynn, Mary, John, Arthur, Hugh and Rita Higgins. Also survived by her many nieces, nephews and sister-in-law.
