Winifred C. Garrity

Garrity, Winifred Carrick (Dauphinee) of Hingham, formerly of Hyde Park, passed away peacefully on October 19, 2010. She was the beloved wife of the late Francis H. Garrity and the loving mother of John F. Garrity of Marshfield, Patricia A. Abbott and her husband Peter of Marshfield, and Robert P. Garrity and his wife Joan of Hingham. Loving grandmother of Kevin, Kristen and Brendan Garrity, Sarah and Peter Abbott, and Lauren and Pamela Garrity. Mrs. Garrity is also survived by her sister Virginia Welch of Quincy and her brother Richard Dauphinee of Broomfield, CO and many loving nieces and nephews. Born in Dorchester in 1917, she lived there until she and her husband Frank moved briefly to South Boston and then to Hyde Park in the early 1950’s where they stayed until old age. She will be remembered as a great conversationalist, a person with a keen intelligence, and for her wonderful sense of humor. She was a devoted mother and fastidious homemaker, as well as a great reader and lover of history. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend the visitation on Saturday at 9:15 AM in the Pyne Keohane Funeral Home, 21 Emerald St. (off Central St.), HINGHAM prior to the Funeral Mass in Church of the Resurrection, Hingham at 10:30 AM. Burial in St. Paul’s Cemetery, Hingham. In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Mrs. Garrity may be made to the Alzheimers Assn., MA Chapter, 311 Arsenal St., Watertown, MA 02472.
