William Whelton

Whelton, William J., Age 84 of Braintree (formerly of Centerville and Newton) died February 14, 2013 surrounded by his family. 

Beloved husband of Virginia (Shea).  Brother to Rita Croft of Danvers, MA.  Loving and devoted father of Susan Coopersmith of Bar Harbor Maine and Tanzania, Africa, William and his wife Pamela of Weymouth, MA and Paula Vanesian and her husband Joseph of Holliston, MA.  Cherished grandfather to Darcy Throckmorton, Andrew, Nathan and Willie Whelton, Joseph, Christopher and Liam Vanesian.  He also leaves two great grand children Noah and Luke Throckmorton.  Also survived by numerous nephews.  

A graduate of Charlestown High School and attended Northeastern University.  Distinguished Veteran of WW II and the Korean War.  Retired from the United States Department of Defense after 41 years of service. The family is grateful for the care William received at South Shore Hospital.  They request that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to South Shore Hospital for Nursing Care and Education.   

Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend the visiting hours on Tuesday 4-8 PM in the McDonald Funeral Home SOUTH WEYMOUTH at 809 Main Street (Rte 18 opp. So. Shore Hosp.)  Relatives and friends will gather in the funeral home at 9 AM on Wednesday prior to the Funeral Mass in St. Clare’s Church, Braintree at 10 AM. Burial in Calvary Cemetery, Waltham.
