William W. “Bill” Hentschel

William W. “Bill” Hentschel of Rockland, passed away peacefully at his home on June 26, 2023. He was 74.

Born in Claremont, NH in 1948, he was the son to the late Wallace F. and Marion N. (Hart) Hentschel. Bill graduated from Steven’s High School in Claremont, Class of 1966. He attended the University of New Hampshire and graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering, Class of 1970. He had a long and varied career in Engineering and Industrial Management at Jones & Lamson of VT, American Optical of NH, Haemonetics in Braintree, Hazeltine in Braintree, Microspring in Norwell, and Electronic Fasteners in Waltham. Bill married Sally in 1973, and they had just celebrated their 50th Wedding Anniversary. Bill was a life-long and avid fan of New England sports teams. He also enjoyed bowling and golfing as well as hiking the White Mountains in his younger years. More than anything, Bill was very deep-rooted in his faith and relationship with Jesus. He was a kind and generous man; you could see that through his time as a Gideon, through the Rockland Jaycees, and his active participation in the mission of the Nazarene Church. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him.

Loving husband of Sally Ann (Solomon) Hentschel of Rockland. Cherished father to Daniel B. Hentschel and his wife Marlene K. (Hart) of Henrietta, NY and Laurel E. (Hentschel) McGinn and her husband Daniel J. of Sharon. Brother to David A. Hentschel and his partner Bonnie Bullock of VT and the late Beth Ann (Hentschel) Pickett and her husband the late Gordon. Grandpa to Timothy M. Hentschel, Eleanor E. Hentschel, Jacob S. Hentschel, Richard C. Hentschel, Jasmin F. Snell, and Elizabeth M. Hentschel. Brother-in-law to Richard C. Solomon of HI, Cynthia L. (Solomon) Harrington and her husband James of NH, Susan Hassett of NH, and Barry Paquette of VT. Also survived by his Uncle Lealand D. Hentschel and his wife Beverly of NH and his Uncle F. William Hentschel of FL, and many nieces, nephews, and cousins. He was predeceased by his beloved family member Louise M. (Atwood) Sawyer.
