William P. Thibodeau

William P. (Bill) Thibodeau, of Rockland, passed away on December 13, 2024. He was 93.

Bill was born on August 27, 1931, in Quincy MA, to parents Lillian and Lawrence Thibodeau. 

After graduating Quincy High School, Bill worked in local businesses before being called up for active-duty service, with his National Guard unit, during the Korean conflict. He attained the rank of Sgt. 1st Class (T) and was awarded numerous decorations.

After release from service, Bill married Betty L. Anderson of Weymouth in 1956, and together they had six children.

Bill worked at the Fore River Shipyard in Quincy until its closing in 1986, and, until recently, he was an attendee at the annual “Old Timers” banquet. Bill was also an avid bowler at The Lincoln Lanes, in Quincy. 

Bill was predeceased by his loving wife Betty; by his brother Lawrence and his wife Rosemary; and by his brother, David. Bill is survived by his sister, Joyce Gilmore, of Weymouth, and her husband, John, and by his brother Paul Thibodeau, and his wife, Joanne, of Freetown.

Bill and Betty were loving parents of, and survived by, Kim Mooney and her husband, Richard, of Weymouth; William P. Thibodeau, Jr. of Boston, Edward Thibodeau of Rockland, Lisa Johnson and her husband, Charles, of Abington, Michael Thibodeau of Quincy, and Kristen Kiley of Rockland. 

Bill was the Grandfather of Michael, Pamela, William, Jenna, and Taylor, and Great Grandfather of Nolan.

Bill was cremated, and his ashes, along with those of his dear wife, Betty, will be interred at the Massachusetts National Cemetery, in Bourne on Cape Cod, where Bill will be given full military honors.

Services and burial will be private.
