William Patrick “Billy” Nee

William Patrick “Billy” Nee, of Quincy and formerly of South Boston, died peacefully surrounded by his loving family on Sunday, August 30, 2020 at the South Sore Hospital in Weymouth. He was 76.

Born in Boston on July 14, 1944, he was the son of the late Joseph J. and Helen L. (Fitzgerald) Nee. Billy attended local schools and graduated from South Boston High School. Before retirement, Billy was a truck driver with the Teamsters.

Billy liked to keep busy and never liked to sit around. He was the kind of person that enjoyed helping others and being with his family. In his spare time, he loved listening to music on the radio, fishing on the Charles River, boating and canoeing. Billy also spent much of his retirement watching his grandchildren. He liked to be outside either by the pool or working in his yard. Billy was also known for tinkering around in his house working on odds and ends and little projects. Billy liked being active in the community. He was a member of the Teamsters, the Quincy Elks and the McKeon Post in Dorchester.

The most important part of Billy’s life was his family. He always made sure his wife and children were cared for. One way he liked to express his affection was by playing tricks and practical jokes on people. His easy going and fun spirit was special to his family and friends.

Billy was a hardworking man who was also selfless, loving, dedicated, friendly and generous. His life lessons and example are part of his legacy that continue through his children and grandchildren. He will be missed by all the lives he touched.

Billy was the beloved husband of Elizabeth A. (Buonamano) Nee. The two married on February 12, 1972 in Nashua, New Hampshire. Together they shared 48 years of loving marriage. He was the devoted father of Mary E. McNamara and her husband Kyle of Pembroke, Shawn Nee and his wife Julie Haire of Los Angeles, California and Ashley Stedman and her husband Bernard of Braintree. Billy was the loving papa of Owen and Addison McNamara, both of Pembroke, Wilkes Nee of Los Angeles, California, Claire, Richard and William Stedman, all of Braintree. He was the dear brother of Robert C. Nee, Margaret A. Doyle and her husband Frank, Donna Casper and her husband Joseph, the late Joseph J. Nee and his surviving wife Susan and the late James “Jimmy” Nee, all of South Boston. Billy is also survived by many loving nieces, nephews, extended family members and friends.
