William P. Barry, Jr.

William P. Barry, Jr. of Abington, died October 2, 2021. The beloved husband of the late Dorothy (Bowles) Barry. Loving father of  Janet Barry of Quincy, Patricia Smalley of Dorchester, Patrick Barry of Quincy, William P. Barry, III, of Abington, Susan Barry of Quincy, Carolyn McGrath  of Weymouth and the late John and James Barry. Brother of Nancy Ferrara and Joan Todd both of Quincy and the late Grace Wilmot, Barbara Kelly, Ruth Gallagher and Robert Barry. Bill is also survived by 10 grandchildren, 9 great grandchildren and 1 great great grandchild and many nieces and nephews. 

Bill grew up in South Boston , he entered into the United States Navy in 1953 and was honorably discharged in 1961, he then reenlisted into the United States Army where he served until 1976. Bill taught himself Chinese and Portuguese, he wanted to keep his mind sharp and was always up to the challenge of a new task. He taught himself how to paint, garden, weld and how to play the piano. He was a handyman who could tackle any project and fix just about anything. He was a true gentleman and a sweet soul. He would offer to help anyone and was always there to lend a helping hand for any one who need him. Bill worked for Hancock Park as building maintenance supervisor, he was loved by all the workers there. Bill had a heart of gold and will be sadly missed by all those who were fortunate to have know.

Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to greet the family during the visiting hours on Friday 4-8 PM in the Keohane Funeral Home, 785 Hancock St., QUINCY. Funeral service will be celebrated on Saturday at 10:30 AM in Keohane Funeral Home, Quincy. Burial in Pine Hill Cemetery, Quincy. Donations in memory of Bill may be made made to  New England for Homeless Veterans, 17 Court Street, Unit 2601, Boston, MA 02108.
