Bill Newell

William L. “Bill” Newell of Abington, died January 5, 2016.

Bill became a patrolman for the Weymouth Police Department in 1968 and served the department for 32 years before retiring as Sargeant in 2000. He was also a member of the Weymouth Eagles, # 2899. Bill proudly served his country with the United States Marines during the Korean War.

Husband of the late Patricia (Hogan) Newell. Father of William Newell and his wife, Melissa, of Abington, Michelle Newell of Rockland, and the late Patricia Hardie-Gonzalez. Brother of Betty Coleman and her friend, Daniel Sullivan, of Weymouth, Judy Sullivan and her husband, Harold, of E. Bridgewater, and Sandy Arnold and her friend, Bill Chamberlain, of Whitman.

Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend the visiting hours on Friday 4-8 PM in the McDonald Keohane Funeral Home SOUTH WEYMOUTH at 809 Main Street (Rte 18 opp. So. Shore Hospital)  Relatives and friends will gather in the funeral home at 8:30 AM on Saturday prior to the Funeral Mass in St. Francis Xavier Church, Weymouth at 9:30 AM. Burial will follow in in Mt. Hope Cemetery, Weymouth.
