William L. Gately

William (Bill) Gately of Weymouth passed away peacefully at home on March 27, 2021. He was 74 years old.

Bill attended Bentley College and after school he took a chance on a job which quickly turned into a career as a Senior Insurance Underwriter.

After he (reluctantly) retired he spent his days with his family recounting old memories, trying to learn the tv’s “smart remote”, dance parties with Brianna, raising the thermostat in the house, kicking around with John CBC and mulling over what he wanted for dinner.  

Husband and best friend to Rosemary (Rosa), for over 50 years, devoted father to Kaitlin (Kate), Tim and Matt.  Loving and Proud Grampy of Brianna.

Caring brother of John Gately and the late Carol Hogland.  He is survived by many cousins, nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews.  

Bill was incredibly loyal to his family and friends.  Anyone that ever needed anything, he would be there no matter the time day or night, no questions asked.  He will be remembered for his compassion and generous soul.

Services will be private. When the time is right and the world is a safer place, the family will hold a memorial service for loved ones to gather to remember and celebrate Bill and Rosemary.
