Miller, William J. “Hank” “Skippy” of Quincy, formerly of S. Boston, passed away peacefully on to eternal life surrounded by his loving family on June 26, 2017 at Brigham & Women’s Hospital.
William’s life was balanced between his family, faith, work, and service to his country. His wife, children, grandchildren, and lifelong friends were the foremost people in his life. Growing up in South Boston he had a strong Catholic faith which guided him throughout his journey. Longtime devoted parishioner and member of Our Lady of Good Voyage Chapel. A longshoreman by trade, William was a past president of the International Longshoremen’s Association Local 800 (ILA), a Business Agent for 18 years and Pension Administrator since 1993 to the present day. He also served as Vice President of New England Dock and Marine Council. A United States Marine Corp Veteran, William served during Korean War. William was a former Commander of the Michael J. Perkins Post in S. Boston. He will be remembered for his caring nature, love of family, and his ability to never forget a birthday.
Devoted husband of the late Priscilla “Penny” (Ingalls) Miller. Loving father of Michele Miller-Roche and her husband Leo of Quincy, Michael Miller and his wife Viktoria of Quincy, Colleen Miller-Stevenson of Quincy, and Billy L. Miller and his wife Missy of Dorchester. Cherished brother of Edward Miller of Quincy, and the late Ruth Roberts, Claire Hardacker, Charles Miller, and Elayne Bryant. Loving “Papa” to Casey, Madelyn, Caitlyn, Corey, Loren, Jordan, Viktoria, Makayla, and William. Also survived by many nieces and nephews.
Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend the visiting hours on Friday 3-8 PM in the Keohane Funeral Home, 785 Hancock St., QUINCY. A Celebration of Life Service will be held in the funeral home at 9 AM on Saturday prior to the Funeral Mass in Our Lady of Good Voyage Shrine, 51 Seaport Blvd., Boston, MA at 10 AM. Burial in Blue Hill Cemetery, Braintree.
Donations in memory of William may be made to Marian Manor Skilled Nursing & Rehabilitation Center, 130 Dorchester St., S. Boston, MA 02127.
