Jones, William J.“Big Bill” of Quincy, formerly of Dorchester, died January 1, 2015.
Bill was born in Boston and was a graduate of Brighton High School. He played football in High School and after graduating he went on to play Semi Pro for Hyde Park Cowboys. He later then returned to Brighton High School and volunteered his time assisting his former head coach with the football program. Bill worked for I.T.O.A in Boston as a driver. Recently he took up photography and was looking forward to a trip to Costa Rica to capture some of its beauty with his new camera. He also enjoyed playing darts, bowling and was a huge movie buff . Most of all Bill loved his family and spending time with his niece and nephews. He will be missed by all who had the pleasure to have known and loved him.
Beloved son of the late Virgil and Sylvia Jones. Devoted brother of Susan Ward of Quincy, Barbara Horgan and Rob Riley of Quincy, Lisa Albee and her husband Leo of South Weymouth and the late John Ward. Cherished uncle of Michael Horgan of Quincy, Jillian, Justin and Leo Albee all of South Weymouth. Bill is also lovingly survived by his longtime coach and mentor Mr. Phillips “Timo” and many close friends.
Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend the visiting hours on Thursday 4-8 PM in the Keohane Funeral Home, 785 Hancock St., QUINCY. Funeral service will be celebrated on Friday at 10:30 AM in Keohane Funeral Home, Quincy. Burial in Blue Hill Cemetery, Braintree.
