William J. Gormley

Gormley, William J. “Bill” of Quincy, passed away April 17, 2011. Beloved husband of Adele (Kamps) Gormley. Father of Robert Gormley and his wife Lauren, Laura Clarke, Lynn Giroux, and Britton Whitney and his wife Rebecca. Brother of the late Winifred Gormley. Also survived by many grandchildren and great grandchildren. Bill loved his family and enjoyed the years they were all involved in scouting. He was Assistant Scout Master for Troop 11 in Quincy and a Pack 14 Committee Member. His proudest day was seeing his son, Robert, earn the Eagle Scout designation. He also enjoyed fishing for stripers, the Boston Bruins and his Irish heritage. A WWII Veteran, William served in the U.S. Army. He retired from John Hancock in 1988 as an insurance agent. He will be remembered for his easy going manner and gentle smile. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend the visiting hours on Monday from 4-8 PM in the Keohane Funeral Home, 785 Hancock St., QUINCY. A Celebration of Life Service will be held in the funeral home at 9:15 AM on Tuesday prior to the Funeral Mass in Sacred Heart Church, Quincy at 10 AM. Burial in Pine Hill Cemetery, Quincy. Donations in memory of William may be made to Boy Scout Troop 42, c/o Ray Theberge, 21 Puritan Dr., Quincy, MA 02169.
