William J. Buckley

William J. “Bill” Buckley, retired QPD, of Weymouth, formerly of Quincy, passed away May 24, 2017.

Bill graduated North Quincy High School in 1954. He proudly served in the United States Navy from 1954-1962. He joined the Quincy Police Department in 1961, where he spent 38 years and retired in 1999. While being in the Quincy Police, he attained his Bachelor’s Degree in Human Services from New Hampshire College. Bill was a member of the Weymouth Elks and Norfolk County Prosecutor’s Association. After his retirement, he spent 17 years working part-time at Foreign Auto Parts. Bill was a big sports fan and enjoyed bowling, playing cards, trips to the casino, and especially being with family and friends. He also enjoyed traveling to Aruba with his late wife Mae. He will be remembered for his gentle, caring, sensitive, strong and patient ways. Bill will be sadly missed.

Dear husband of 52 years to the late Mary “Mae” Buckley. Loving father to Regina Hennelly and her husband Robert of Weymouth, Marianne Buckley of Marshfield, and Charlene O’Loughlin and her husband Tim of VA. Brother to the late Richard “Dick” Buckley. Beloved Grandpa to Thomas Buckley and his wife Stephanie, Hillary, Lyndsay and Kerri Hennelly, and Matthew and Tighe O’Loughlin. Great-Grandpa to Fiona Mae and Layla Buckley. Brother-in-law to Robert Conlon and his wife Ellie and Carol Walling and her husband Roy. Also survived by many extended family and friends.

Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend the visiting hours on Tuesday 4-8 PM in the Keohane Funeral Home, 785 Hancock St., QUINCY. A Celebration of Life Service will be held in the funeral home at 8:45 AM Wednesday prior to the Funeral Mass in St. Francis Xavier Church, Weymouth at 9:30AM. Burial in Blue Hill Cemetery, Braintree.
