William J. “Billy” Blasi

William J. “Billy” Blasi of Quincy, passed away unexpectedly at the Quincy Medical Center on Sunday evening, December 16, 2018, he was 57.  Billy courageously fought gastric cancer for the past 15 months.

Born and raised in Adams Corner in Dorchester, he was a son of the late Michael A. Blasi and Dorothy E. (Salerno).  Billy was a 1980 graduate of Dorchester High School, and played goalie for his high school hockey team, and later on several men’s leagues.  He grew up spending a lot of time and working at his father’s store, Adams Hardware. This is where Billy’s love for being handy and working with his hands came from, something that led him to be a finish carpenter for many years.  He was most recently working with the Town of Milton Parks & Recreation Dept.  As a child and young man, Billy and his family spent summers on Mayflower Beach in Dennis, where he later vacationed with his wife and son.  Several years ago his family landed at Peters Pond in Sandwich where they loved spending their weekends and summers.  He considered the friends that he made down there his extended family.  He was an avid fan of the Red Sox, Patriots and Bruins.

Billy was the beloved husband of Rosemary (Stanton), and the devoted father of Nicholas “Nick” Blasi.  The greatest joys in his life came from watching his son Nick play hockey and football for the Hough’s Neck Manets and the Quincy High School team.  Billy also enjoyed spending Sunday afternoons watching the Patriots and Red Sox with Nick or whoever else stopped by and pulled up a chair.

Billy was the brother of Michael Blasi and his fiancee Karen Mitchell of MD, Patti Joyce and her husband Paul of Braintree, Donna Malfy of Rockland, Joey Blasi of Hull, and Kenny Blasi and his wife Maria of So. Boston.  He was the son in-law of the late  Ed and Mary Stanton; brother in-law of Susan Wahlstrom and her husband Eric of IN, Joseph Stanton of Bridgewater, and Robert Stanton of Boston. Also survived by many nieces, nephews, and grand-nieces and nephews.  Billy also leaves behind his devoted canine companion, Stanley.
