William G. “Bill” Macmillan

MacMillan, William G. “Bill” of Quincy and Pompano Beach FL, died October 6, 2012. Beloved husband of Dolores MacMillan of Quincy. Loving father of Diane Barrette and her husband George of Westborough, Bruce MacMillan and his wife Maureen of Franklin, Barry MacMillan of Boston, Brian MacMillan and his wife Hideko of Washington State, Paul Apollo and his wife Susan of Maine and Lauren Apollo of Florida. Brother of the late, Ethel Williamson . Cherished grandfather of Drew and Chrystine Poirier, Kathryn Barrette, Meredith, Mac Millan, Alex and Jonathan MacMillan and Paul and Elizabeth Apollo. Bill lived in Quincy for the past 35 years and spent the winters in Pompano Beach, Florida with his wife Dolores. Bill truly loved spending his time at his ocean front condo, having coffee on his balcony, watching the sunrise over the Atlantic. He had a love for the ocean, boating and nature. Bill enjoyed gardening and flowers of all kinds. He was an ardent reader and was jokingly known as the “human dictionary”, able to share facts about anything. Bill was a people person who adored being with his wife, children, grandchildren and friends. He was a former member of the Milton and Westborough Players Clubs. Bill was a past master of the Siloam Lodge in Westborough and Satuit Lodge in Scituate. Bill was a proud WWII Navy Veteran. Bill was a very mechanical guy who had a knack for fixing just about anything around the house. He worked for Westinghouse and Consolidated Elevator Company in Boston for 33 years as an Elevator Mechanic Supervisor before retiring in 1983. Most of all Bill loved his family and friends and spending time with them was greatly important to him. Bill could always be counted on to bring a smile to the face of every person he met. He will be missed by all who had the pleasure to have known him. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend the visiting hours on Wednesday 3-7 PM in the Keohane Funeral Home, 785 Hancock St., QUINCY. A Celebration of Life Service will be held in the funeral home at 9:15 AM on Thursday prior to the Funeral Mass in St. John’s Church, Quincy at 10 AM. Burial in Blue Hill Cemetery, Braintree.
