Sid was a decorated Purple Heart recipient fighting in the “Battle of the Bulge” as a machine gunner in the United States Army during WWII.  Sid was blessed with the gift of music and was a well-known entertainer under the name “Sid Walsh.” He was best known for the song “Southie is My Hometown” and was a regular performer at the Beachcomber in Quincy.  In addition to the many venues, he sang for several local and state politicians, most notably John F. Kennedy’s presidential campaign. When he wasn’t entertaining, he worked for the City of Boston as a Principal Housing Inspector for over 30 years and was the recipient of the City of Boston Shattuck Award.  In his spare time he enjoyed working in his backyard. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him.
