William F. Holloway

William F. Holloway, OFD, of Abington and formerly of Weymouth, passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving family at South Shore Hospital in Weymouth on November 21, 2023. He was 80 years old.

Born in Boston, he was the beloved son of the late Frank and Betty Holloway (Scannell). Brother of the late John Holloway. He graduated from Boston Technical High School in 1960. After graduation Bill joined the US Air Force as a Russian Linguist and was stationed at Eielson Air Force Base in Fairbanks, Alaska during the Cold War Era 1961-1965. He married his sweetheart Nancy in 1968, and he went on to graduate from Bentley College Class of 1970 with an Accounting Degree.

Bill always answered to his other names; Coach, Hey Ref, Papa, and Uncle Billy. He spent many hours teaching and coaching Weymouth and Quincy Youth Hockey for his sons and grandson. His other pleasure was being on the ice refereeing USA Hockey, NIHOA High School Hockey and Boston’s NESHL Beer League.

People and connections were special to Bill, and he always had time for a chat. Remember Bill while you enjoy a cold Corona with friends, watch a Bruins game or especially when you are enjoying all your children’s and grandchildren’s games and events.

Beloved husband of 55 years to Anne M. Holloway (Lynch) of Abington, Cherished father of Matthew Holloway and his wife Marsha of Houston; Scott Holloway of Weymouth, Marc Holloway and his wife Anne Marie of Norton and Julie Kabilian of Abington. Loving Papa to Brendan; Lily, Andrew, Colin, Lauren, Faith, and Liam. Uncle Bill will also be missed by his many nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends.

A special thanks to Dr. Thomas O’Connor and Staff at Dana Farber and the Staff of Emerson 6 at South Shore Hospital for their kind and compassionate care.
