William F. Cross, Jr.

Cross, William F., Jr. of Weymouth, beloved Husband, Dad, Gramp & Pop Pop passed away September 20, 2014 surrounded by his loving family.

Bill started his career early selling soda at the semi-pro baseball games at Weston Park, graduated from Weymouth High School class of 1947, went on to drive a truck in the family business. He went to work for Cities Service Oil Co. which he left after being appointed Weymouth Veterans Agent retiring in 1995 after 23 years on the job. After retirement as a Veterans Agent, Bill volunteered for 12 years with the Weymouth Elder Services, he was also a member of the Weymouth Lodge of Elks, American Legion Post 79, and the Weymouth Knights of Columbus.  He also bowled with the South Shore Indy League for over 50 years, making candlepin bowling history as one of four to bowl 200 in one string. Bill proudly served in the U. S Army during the Korean War.

Bill was predeceased by his wife of 42 years, Patricia A. Cross (Nicholson) and survived by his three children; Son William F. Cross III and his wife Kimberly of Austin TX; Son David and his wife Keri of Hanover, MA; Daughter Lisa McDonald and her husband Greg “Micka” of Weymouth, MA;  seven grandchildren and two great-grandchildren and many nieces, nephews and cousins.  Also survived by Sisters Jeanne Corcoran of Norwood, MA and Rita Bryant of Weymouth, MA; Brother John Cross of Weymouth, and Bill’s dear friend Gloria Hughes of Weymouth. He was predeceased in death by his Sister Rosemary Laugelle of Cohasset and Brother Edwin Cross of Hingham and his parents William F. Cross and Florence.

Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend the visiting hours on Wednesday 4-8 PM in the McDonald Keohane Funeral Home SOUTH WEYMOUTH at 809 Main Street (Rte 18 opp. So. Shore Hospital)  Relatives and friends will gather in the funeral home at 9:15 AM on Thursday prior to the Funeral Mass in Immaculate Conception Church, Weymouth at 10 AM. Burial in Fairmount Cemetery, Weymouth. In lieu of flowers, donations on Bills’ behalf may be made to South Shore Hospice, 100 Bay State Dr, Braintree, MA 02184 or the Juvenile Diabetes Foundation, 60 Walnut St, Wellesley, MA 02481.
