Mr. William F., Bannister, of Braintree, passed away on May 10, 2018.
Bill grew up in Dorchester, but has been a resident of Braintree for the past 67 years. A recipient of the Purple heart, Bill was a proud veteran of the US Army at the Battle of the Bulge in WWII. He was also a graduate of Bentley College. Bill loved being around his family, listening to music from the Big Band Era and driving to Florida with his late wife Dottie during their retirement years.
He loved being home, working around his yard and sitting by the pool enjoying his family and friends. Bill will be dearly missed by all those who knew and loved him.
Adoring husband, of 65 years, to the late Dorothy L. (Donovan). Loving father of Bill Bannister and his wife, Jackie, of North Andover, Carol A. Fleming and her husband, Andy, of Medford, Susan Bannister Fabbri of Andover, and Bobby Bannister and his wife, Heather, of Pembroke. Cherished Grampy to his 13 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren.
Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend the visitation on Thursday, from 8:30 – 10:30 AM, at the McDonald Keohane Funeral Home SOUTH WEYMOUTH, 809 Main Street, (Rt. 18 opposite South Shore Hospital), followed by his Funeral Mass at St. Clare’s Church, Braintree, at 11 AM. Burial will follow in The Massachusetts National Cemetery, Bourne.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the New England Center for Homeless Veterans, 17 Court Street, Boston, MA 02108.
