William E. Winnie

William E. Winnie of East Weymouth, passed away peacefully April 23, 2023. He was 73 years old.

Born in Brookline, he was the son of the late William E. Gillespie and Clara Tarbox. After graduation, Bill was drafted into the Army to serve our country during the Vietnam War. He served proudly during his active duty and then remained enlisted as an Army Reservist. He was retired from the City of Weymouth. A gentle giant, Bill was a generous, kind, loving brother, friend, and uncle. He will be remembered for spoiling his nieces and nephews, and for his great belly laugh.

He was the beloved brother of Margaret Eget of Andover KS and brother-in-law to Majorie Winnie of Hanover, MA. He was preceded in death by his brother Harry Winnie. He was a loving uncle of Michelle Sarrow of Winnetka, CA;  Mathew Eget of Reseda, CA,  Nathaniel Winnie of Hanover, MA  and John Winnie of Sharpsburg, GA. He will be missed by other extended family members and friends.

Services were held privately at Bill’s requests.
