Downey, William C. of South Boston ,January 13, 2007. William is survived by his sister Lillian Carroll of Las Vegas, NV and brother of the late Leo Downey. Uncle of Patricia Arellanes of CA, Annmarie Eitas of Marshfield, Lawrence Carroll of OR and Michael Carroll of CA. William is also survived by 9 great nieces and nephews. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend the funeral from the Keohane Funeral Home, 785 Hancock St., WOLLASTON, Wednesday at 8 AM. Funeral Mass in St. John The Baptist Church, 44 School St., Quincy at 9 AM. Visiting hours Tuesday 4- 8 PM. Burial in Massachusetts National Cemetery, Bourne. W.W.II Navy veteran William was born in Boston and spent most of his life in South Boston. He served in the United States Navy from October 1943 until his honorable discharge in April of 1946, he received a World War II victory Medal along with an Asiatic Pacific Star . He served on the USS Oahu during World War II. William worked for the Boston Schools as a custodian for more than 20 years. He was a past member of the Knights of Columbus, Boston Chapter. William was an avid sports fan, especially for the Boston Red Sox as well as the New England Patriots. He enjoyed music from Frank Sinatra and the “Big Band” era. William will be missed by his family and friends.
