Dean, William B., Jr. of Weymouth, passed away March 9, 2023. William was born in Newton to the late Margaret and William B Dean Sr. He attended Newton High School and graduated in the class of 1957. William had a lifetime career as an electronic salesman, beginning when he was a teen working with his father.
Beloved husband of 60 years to Linda Dean of Weymouth. Loving father of Timothy Dean of Plymouth, Brian Dean and his wife Jean of Hanson, Jonathan Dean and his wife Dorianne of Hooksett, NH and Erika Dean Ryan of Plymouth. Cherished grandfather of 6; Erik, Chloe, Daniel, Molly, Sophia and Xana. Dear brother of the late Ron Dean and Marilyn Bouvier. Also survived by many nieces, nephews and cousins.
Growing up in Newton, Bill met his sweetheart from South Boston, Linda, due to a chance meeting through a friend while both in their teen years. After marrying, they started their journey off in Dorchester, until moving to Weymouth in 1967, which would be their final destination to live a fulfilling life together.
Bill spent many years involved in Weymouth Youth Hockey and Baseball proudly coaching his boys. As his boys grew older and the love for baseball stayed, this led to the creation of his own baseball team “The Weymouth Titans” within the Cranberry league. This is something he was extremely proud of.
Bill was a well decorated table tennis star, which he started playing at a club in Waltham as a teenager. He has won many accolades through his career, one being the Northeast Champion. This was a love that ran deep, often the topic of discussion as he played for many many years.
Through the years Bill was a “regular” who spent many nights at Denly Gardens in Weymouth chatting it up with his buddies, talking sports and about life in general. He was a fixture there and when those days slowed down and eventually came to an end we were told he was missed dearly.
Bill had a quiet disposition, one who sat back and enjoyed the family and home that they created. It was a home full of love, many friends and family. The door was always open, anyone was welcome, which many of his children’s friends made much use of, but never taking advantage, through the years. It was the place to be and you knew music, sports talk, games and a good time would be had. If you were lucky enough, you also got a Denly’s pizza at the end of the night, but you knew you had to save him 2 slices.
Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to greet the family during the visiting hours on Sunday 2-5 PM in the McDonald Keohane Funeral Home SOUTH WEYMOUTH at 809 Main Street (Rte 18 opp. So. Shore Hospital). Funeral service will be celebrated on Monday at 10 AM in McDonald Keohane Funeral Home, SOUTH WEYMOUTH at 809 Main St. (Rt. 18 opp. South Shore Hospital) , Weymouth.
