Sampson, Wilfrid D. of Abington, formerly of Braintree, Centerville, and Lexington, passed away on May 27, 2017.
Born in Everett, a son of the late Joseph and Alvina (Goyette) Sampson, he was a manager for many years for the New England Telephone Company. Wilfrid enjoyed golfing, travelling, square dancing, and working for Meals On Wheels in Centerville. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus as well as the Holy Name Society, both in Lexington. He was a proud World War II veteran serving in the United States Army.
Beloved husband of the late Frances P. (Mullen) Sampson. Loving father of Kathleen Bailey and her husband, Jack of Abington, Paul Sampson and his wife, Sandra Sanford, of Seattle, WA, Robert Sampson and his wife, Mary, of Holderness, NH, and Jeffrey Sampson and his wife, Sue, of New Hampton, NH. Brother of Edwin Sampson of Woburn, and the late Arthur Sampson, Vincent Sampson, and Rita Crowley. Grandfather of Timothy, Kenneth, and Amy Bailey, Joseph, Emily, Thomas, Michael, and Sasha Sampson. Great Grandfather of Brendan, Stephen, Abigail, and Elodie.
Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend the visiting hours on Wednesday 4-7 PM in the McDonald Keohane Funeral Home SOUTH WEYMOUTH at 809 Main Street (Rte 18 opp. So. Shore Hospital). Relatives and friends will gather in the funeral home at 8 AM Thursday prior to the Funeral Mass in St. Bridget’s Church, Abington at 9 AM. Burial in MA National Cemetery, Bourne.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association, 309 Waverley Oaks Road, Waltham, MA 02452 or to the American Cancer Society, P.O. Box, 22478, Oklahoma City, OK, 73123.
