Wayne M. Lambert, of Weymouth, formerly of Lawrence, died August 26, 2021 after a courageous battle with cancer. In his early years, Wayne was signed as a pitcher for the Cleveland Indians and played in their minor leagues. After a 35-year career with National Grid, Wayne was enjoying every day of retirement with his beloved wife Patti (Casey) Lambert.
An avid ham radio operator (call sign W1TOA), he was known as the “Voice of New England.” Days were spent fishing, golfing, riding his wave runner, and riding through town on his electric bike. He took great pride in their home and had a special place in his heart for animals, especially his “herd” which included 3 dogs and 3 cats.
He was the loving step-father of Jennifer Rutkaukas of Weymouth, Meghan Abramson of Milton and Tara Mitchell-Kilduff of Sandwich. He adored his 5 step-grandchildren. He was honored to help raise other children in earlier years.
Loving brother of Kevin Lambert and his wife Tina of NH and Brian Lambert and his wife Nancy of NH. Cherished uncle of Jake, Dylan and Brian. He will be dearly missed by many friends and loved ones.
Private services will be held at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Wayne may be made to Dana-Farber Cancer Institute, P.O. Box 849168, Boston, MA 02284.
