Shea, Walter J. of Quincy formerly of South Boston, August 5, 2003. The beloved husband of 60 years to Mary A. (Pinero) Shea of Quincy. Loving Father of Maureen Shea of South Boston, Karen Shea of N.Quincy, Walter J. Shea of New Bedford and Mary Ann Zona and her husband Leo of Norwell. Brother of James Shea of Pembroke, Doris Noonan and Carol Devlin both of South Boston, Thomas Shea of Hyde Park and the late John, Robert and Donald Shea. Devoted Grandfather of Christopher and Kerri Zona and special “Papa” of Anna McCabe of Lawrence. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend the funeral from the Keohane Funeral Home 785 Hancock St. , WOLLASTON Saturday at 9 AM. Funeral Mass in Sacred Heart Church, N. Quincy at 10 AM. Visiting hours Friday 2-4 and 6- 8 PM. Burial in Blue Hill Cemetery, Braintree. Walter was born and raised in South Boston. He moved to Quincy in 1957. Walter began working as a longshoreman for local # 800 – International Longshoremans union.He then took a position at Suffolk Superior Court as a court officer and retired in 1987. Walter was a boxer and was known as “Irish Tommy Moore” . Mr. Shea was a member of the Castle Island Assoc. and was inducted into the South Boston Hall of Fame. In lieu of flowers , donations in memory of Mr. Shea may be made to South Boston Special Kids, c/o Mt. Washington Bank, 430 Broadway, South Boston, MA 02127.
