Walter J. Madden

Walter J. Madden of Hanover, died August 30, 2013 at the age of 85. Walter grew up in Dorchester, graduating from St. John’s High School in Cambridge and Boston College class of 1949. He proudly served in the US Army during the Korean Conflict and was a member of the American Legion in Quincy. Walter worked as an insurance broker for Marsh and McLennon for 44 years. As an active parishioner of St. Ann’s Church in Quincy, Walter could often be found volunteering as an acolyte for funeral masses or bringing parishioners to doctors appointments and hospitals. He enjoyed traveling around the world and spending cherished time with family. He will be remembered as a gentleman and for the selfless way he lived his life.

Loving brother of Charles M. Madden of Marston Mills. Devoted “Uncle Walter” to Charles W. Madden and his wife Susan of North Reading, Maryellen Madden of MD, Theresa Chambers and her husband Robert of CA, Elizabeth Zinke and her husband Fran of Hanover, Kathleen Keane of Quincy, Walter H. Madden and his wife Barbara of Weymouth and 11 grand-nephews.  

Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend the visiting hours on Thursday 4-8 PM in the Keohane Funeral Home, 785 Hancock St., QUINCY. A Celebration of Life Service will be held in the funeral home at 9 AM Friday prior to the Funeral Mass in St. Ann’s Church, Quincy at 10 AM. Burial in St. Joseph’s Cemetery, West Roxbury. Donations in memory of Walter may be made to Catholic TV, PO BOX 9196, Watertown, MA 02471.
