Walter H. Flynn Jr.

Flynn, Walter H., Jr. of Weymouth, formerly of Savin Hill and Dorchester, passed away March 31, 2022 with his family by his side. Walter was born in Boston to the late Walter, Sr. and Rita Flynn. He was a graduate of Mission Hill High School and earned his Masters at UMass Boston. Walter was a retired Lt. Col. of the USMC, serving for over 22 years. His dedication to his country earned him a Good Conduct Medal, Bronze Star Medal, Purple Heart and Combat Action Ribbon. Walter enjoyed being active in the community, reading and spending time with his family, especially at cheer competitions and soccer games.

Beloved husband of 56 years to Maryellen F. (Fitzgerald) Flynn of Weymouth. Loving father of Jacqueline Flynn, Terence Flynn and his wife Jennifer of Weymouth, father in law of Dana Flynn of Norton, and Walter H. Flynn III of AZ. Dear brother of Brian Flynn and his wife Ann of Quincy, Kathleen Taylor of Worcester and the late Kevin Flynn. Cherished Grampy of Conor, Sean and Emma Flynn. Also survived by many nieces, nephews, extended family and longtime friends.

Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to greet the family during the visiting hours on Monday 4-8 PM in the McDonald Keohane Funeral Home NORTH WEYMOUTH at 40 Sea Street (off Route 3A – Bicknell Square). Relatives and friends will gather in the funeral home at 9:30 AM on Tuesday prior to the Funeral Mass in Sacred Heart Church, Weymouth at 10:30 AM. Burial to follow in MA National Cemetery, Bourne at 1:15PM. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation in memory of Walter to the Navy-Marine Corps Relief Society.
