Walter Granigan

Walter Granigan, age 88, born to the parents of Mary and Frank Granigan, passed away peacefully at his home in Weymouth on September 9, 2023.

He grew up in Dorchester and proudly served his country in the U.S. Army followed by a fulfilling career in Local 17 Sheet Metal Workers Union of Boston. Walter was a talented carpenter and assisted his children in their many home improvement projects. Walter’s favorite pastime was a good book coupled with a nice cigar.

Walter was the loving husband of Annette (Ferullo) Granigan and leaves behind his children Mark and wife Chrissy of Woodstock GA, Donna and wife Maureen Beauregard of Strafford, NH, Dennis and wife Kate of Marshfield MA. Walter was predeceased by his adoring stepson Brian who called him “Pops”. Walter also leaves his grandchildren whom he had so much pride in and they include Connor McDougal, Abby Granigan, Shane Granigan, Mary Grace Granigan, Caitilin Rae Granigan and step grandchildren Aj and Drew Trembley. Also his great grandchildren Finn and Quinn McDougal and his heavenly angel Grady.  Walters’ greatest joy was daily calls listening to the stories of his family’s successes and then sharing them with everyone.

Walter’s family includes devoted Brother Frank Granigan and wife Pauline of Rockland and predeceased siblings Carol Tardanico, Mary Arzigian, Stephen, Paul and Jerry Granigan. Walter was cared for by many nieces and nephews who brought peace and joy to his life until the end.

Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to greet the family during the visiting hours on Sunday 4:00-5:00 PM in the McDonald Keohane Funeral Home NORTH WEYMOUTH at 40 Sea Street (off Route 3A – Bicknell Square). Army Funeral Honors and brief memory sharing will take place immediately following at 5:00 PM. In lieu of flowers, donations in Walter’s memory can be made to a charity of one’s choice.
