Walter E. Duker, Jr.

Walter E. “Sonny” Duker, Jr., a lifelong resident of Weymouth, MA and Englewood, FL died on December 28, 2016 in the home he built for his late wife of 65 years, Barbara F. (Anderson) Duker who predeceased him by only 42 days. He was 86.

Although his home base was always in Weymouth,  Sonny was constantly on on the move maintaining vehicles for the MBTA or restoring the 1923 Model T Ford given him by his grandfather, John Dulka.  Even in his leisure time, he remained in motion out on his boat or camping with his family along the East Coast from Canada to Florida and making friends through the Good Sam Club and Englewood Elks.

In addition to being a beloved husband to Barbara, Sonny was the son of the late Walter E. and Olive (Davis) Duker, the brother of the late Irving Duker, the loving father of Donna L. Conlon and her husband Francis and Marcia E. Reddington and her husband Thomas all of Weymouth and the cherished “Papa” to Duane M. Garvey, Jennifer L. Conlon and Michael F. Conlon. He is also survived by his dear aunt Wanda Dulka of Weymouth and one great-granddaughter.

Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend the visiting hours on Saturday 9:00 -11:00 AM in the McDonald Keohane Funeral Home, North Weymouth at 40 Sea Street (Off Rt. 3A – Bicknell Square) with a funeral service at 11:00 AM. Burial will follow in Mt. Hope Cemetery.
