Mrs. Virginia (McManus) Stanton, of Weymouth, passed away on March 27, 2022.

She was the beloved wife of the late William P. Stanton Jr. Loving mother of William P. Stanton III of Brockton, James F. Stanton and his wife, Kathleen, of Salisbury, the late Maureen E. Burton and her husband, Joseph of Weymouth, Kevin J. Stanton and his wife, Eileen, of Abington, Kathleen J. Fitzgerald of Dorchester, Mother-in-law of Maureen Burton of Weymouth. Sister of James McManus of Dunstable, the late William McManus, the late Florence Conti, the late Robert McManus and Patricia Bridges and her husband, Edward, of Plymouth. Loving Aunt to her many nieces and nephews.

Virginia, OFD, was in the first COED graduating class at Dorchester High and a graduate of Bentley College.  She lived an interesting life all over the world. She had many stories of her experiences living in France, Turkey, Panama and across the United States with her husband’s career in the U.S. Air Force. Even after settling in Weymouth, she loved to travel. She had annual trips with her friends from high school, “The Maine Gang” to Wells Beach, ME. She went to Walt Disney World on many occasions with her kids and grandkids through the years.

Ginnie was an avid sports fan. She loved all New England sports, Tom Brady and the Olympics. She rarely missed a game, event or opportunity to cheer on her grandkids in their sporting endeavors.

She loved her family without bounds and was happiest when she was able to bring everyone together. She faithfully continued her mother’s tradition of organizing the annual family Christmas parties, summer cookouts and hosted Christmas morning every year. Spending time with her family was her number one priority and having grandchildren and great grandchildren was her greatest joy. She will be missed deeply by those that affectionately remember her as Mom, Grandma or GG.
