Virginia M. (Maloney) Fortuna

Mrs. Virginia M. (Maloney) Fortuna, 93, of Yarmouthport, formerly of Weymouth, passed away peacefully on May 30, 2015.

Beloved wife for over 50 years of the late Peter P. Fortuna.  Loving mother of Michael Fortuna, and his wife Kathleen, of Scituate, Marie T. Christmas and her husband, Roy, of Weymouth, Anne V. Iacobucci and her husband, Paul J. of  Kingston, John Robert Fortuna, of Hingham and the late Peter P. Fortuna, Jr.  Dear sister of the late Francis Maloney. Virginia is lovingly survived by 14 grandchildren and 23 great-grandchildren. Loving sister-in-law of Sr. Catherine  Fortuna of Wellesley and Mary Dodd of NH. 

 In 1983, Virginia founded L’Arche Irenicon in Massachusetts, a Catholic organization that provides community housing for the intellectually- and physically-challenged. Virginia was also a member of the Secular Order of Our Lady of Mt. Carmel and St. Teresa of Jesus, Roxbury/ Brighton Chapter.  Virginia was also an avid reader and always enjoyed spending time with her family.

Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend the visiting hours on Wednesday, June 3rd from 4-8 PM in the McDonald Keohane Funeral Home SOUTH WEYMOUTH at 809 Main Street (Rte 18 opp. So. Shore Hospital). Relatives and friends will gather in the funeral home at 8:30 AM on Thursday, June 4th prior to the Funeral Mass in Saint Francis Xavier Church, Weymouth at 9:30 AM. Burial in MA National Cemetery, Bourne.
