Virginia M. “Gingie” O’Donnell

Virginia, M. (Gingie) O’Donnell died peacefully after a brief illness on September 25, 2021.  Beloved wife of the late Edward U. O’Donnell.  Gingie was born and raised in South Boston, but was a long-time resident of Quincy.  She obtained a Bachelor’s of Science degree from Boston College and worked as a nurse at the Carney Hospital, in the Navy, and in the Boston Public School system.  She was proud of her Irish heritage and enjoyed gardening, swimming, and avidly followed politics.  She is survived by her daughter Catherine O’Donnell and her granddaughter Sarah White, by her step-children Susan Mahan, Denise McLeod, and Ted O’Donnell and his wife Ann Marie, as well as by many nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held at the Keohane Funeral Home, 785 Hancock Street, Quincy, MA 02170.  Visiting hours on Thursday, September 30, 2021 from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m.  Funeral Mass at Divine Mercy Parish, 386 Hancock Street, North Quincy, MA 02171 on Friday, October 1, 2021 at 10:00 a.m.  Burial at Blue Hill cemetery.    To send a condolence message or share a special memory please click the link above.
