Kelley, Virginia M. (Elsden) of Weymouth, passed away peacefully after a long illness on January 26, 2024. She was born in Boston in 1928 to the late Francis and Ann (Baker) Elsden.
Virginia was devoted to both her family and extended family. She was married to her true love, Robert in 1948 and became a dedicated mother to her four loving children, and an exceptional grandmother to her precious grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Virginia and Robert enjoyed dining and dancing with their many friends on Saturday nights. She enjoyed several hobbies including ceramics, which she provided her children with many precious pieces. She also was an avid knitter and made afghans for each of her grandchildren. Virginia loved entertaining at her home, her favorite dish to prepare was a delicious roast beef dinner with all the fixings. Virginia was proud of her Associate’s Degree from Kathleen Dell Business School and used her degree in a professional capacity before her marriage. Virginia’s love of the outdoors was best exemplified in the family’s many camping trips including a trip across country with her four children. Later on Virginia enjoyed her many trips to Europe and her cruises to the Caribbean, Hawaii and Alaska.
Virginia was deeply devoted to her faith and was a daily attendee at Mass. Loving wife of 44 years to the late Robert G. Kelley. Cherished mother to Dennis Kelley and his wife Karen of Billerica, Janice Molloy and her husband Joseph of Gilford, NH, Maureen Perry and her husband Jack of Weymouth, and Robert (Bert) Kelley and his wife Kim of Derry, NH. Sister to Kevin Elsden and John McLaughlin, Brian Elsden and his wife Marjorie, and the late Evelyn Flaherty and her surviving husband Joseph. Also loving survived by 15 grandchildren, 11 great grandchildren and many cherished nieces and nephews.
Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to greet the family during the visiting hours on Sunday 3-6 PM in the McDonald Keohane Funeral Home NORTH WEYMOUTH at 40 Sea Street (off Route 3A – Bicknell Square). A Celebration of Life Service will be held in the funeral home at 10:00 AM on Monday prior to the Funeral Mass in St. Jerome Church, Weymouth at 10:30 AM.
