Virginia “Ginny” Carney

Carney, Virginia “Ginny”, a lifelong resident of Hingham and former owner of Ginny’s Coffee Shop, passed away March 27, 2010 at the age of 98. Daughter of the late Ellen Bresnahan and Edward Carney. Sister of the late Esther Hickey, Madeline Neff, Katherine Cassidy, Frances Coyle, and Edward Carney. Loving aunt to many nieces, nephews, grand nieces & nephews, and great grand nieces & nephews. She was also the longtime friend of the late Obie Bridgers. During the 1950’s and 1960’s, Ginny owned and operated Ginny’s Coffee Shop on North Street in Hingham. She also worked at the Colonial and other restaurants in the Hingham area and cooked for the residents of Deering Nursing Home in Hingham and Stetson Manor Nursing Home in Norwell. She was a parishioner of St. Paul’s Church. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend the visiting hours Wednesday 4-8 PM in the Pyne Keohane Funeral Home, 21 Emerald St. (off Central St.), HINGHAM. A Celebration of Life Service will be held in the funeral home at 9:15AM on Thursday prior to the Funeral Blessing in St. Paul’s Church, Hingham at 10 AM. Burial in Saint Paul’s Cemetery, Hingham. Donations in memory of Ginny may be made to St. Paul’s Church, 147 North Street, Hingham, MA 02043.
