Virginia A. Wood

Virginia A. Wood (b. 7/15/1928) passed peacefully in Acton, MA on 8/31/2021.  Ginny, as she was known to friends, was born and raised in Quincy, MA and lived there for most of her life.  She was the daughter of Maurice and Charlotte Wood, and is predeceased by her sister, Carol Leone.  She was the beloved aunt of Janice Litton of Pollock, LA, Lynda Brown of Naples, FL, and Steven Brown of Acton, MA, great aunt of Christopher Tusi, Jennifer Modeland, David Tusi, Justin Litton, Jared Litton, Sophie Brown and Damon Brown, and cherished aunt-in-law of Donald Litton, Paul Klens and Shana Pyun Brown.  To her nieces and nephews and their families and friends, she was affectionately known as ‘Aunt Dar’.

Ginny was a loyal and valued employee of the Liberty Mutual Insurance Company in Boston for 45 years, starting work the day after her graduation from North Quincy High School.

She was an avid reader and appreciated the arts, frequenting museums and performances whenever she could.  During her life, she was fortunate enough to have traveled to Spain, Italy and Turkey to mingle with their people and explore their arts and culture.

Ginny was known for her generous spirit and lovable eccentricities.  She drove a succession of Volkswagen Beetles that became her trademark.  She kindly shuttled her young nieces and nephews to ice cream stands, movies, museums and sporting events, creating a lifetime of happy memories, and, in time, expertly instructed the novice drivers in her family on the nuances of the manual transmission.

Ginny’s greatest inspiration was the ocean, instilled in her by childhood summers in Maine, her ancestral home. Throughout her life, well into her 80’s, she would take to the bracing salt water for lengthy swims and upon emerging, radiate a sense of profound peace and happiness, one that we pray remains with her eternally.
