Virginia A. Whelton

WHELTON, Virginia A., Age 84, of Braintree (formerly of Centerville and Newton), died October 20, 2013 surrounded by her family.

Beloved wife of the late William J. Whelton. Loving and devoted mother of Susan Coopersmith of Bar Harbor, ME, William and his wife Pamela of Norwell, and Paula Vanesian and her husband Joseph of Holliston.  Cherished grandmother to Darcy Throckmorton, Andrew, Nathaniel, and William Whelton, Joseph, Christopher, and Liam Vanesian. She also leaves two great- grandchildren, Noah and Luke Throckmorton.  Sister-in-Law to Rita Croft of Danvers.

She was a graduate of Mount Saint Joseph Academy and Burdett College. The family is grateful for the care Virginia received at South Shore Hospital.

Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend the visiting hours on Tuesday from 5 to 8 PM in the McDonald Keohane Funeral Home, SOUTH WEYMOUTH at 809 Main Street (Rte 18 opp. South Shore Hospital). Relatives and friends will gather in the funeral home at 9 AM on Wednesday prior to the Funeral Mass in St. Clare’s Church, Braintree at 10 AM. Burial in Calvary Cemetery, Waltham.

They request that, in lieu of flowers, donations be made to South Shore Hospital for Nursing Care and Education.
