Thorburn, Virginia A. (Stonely) of Hull, September 2, 2003. Beloved wife of the late William T. Thorburn, married 55 years. Loving mother of Patricia Thorburn of Hull, David C. Thorburn of Marietta, GA, Peter T. Thorburn of Hull, Joanna Radding of Scituate, Andrew G. Thorburn of Hull, Scott Thorburn of Gloucester and the late Jeffrey W. Thorburn. Devoted sister of Barbara Hanian of Weymouth, Dorothea Cicchese of Weymouth and the late Paul Stonely & Eleanor Boodro. Loving grandmother of Linn E., Will, Jeffrey, Christopher, Scott, Lukas and Chloe. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend the funeral from the Pyne Keohane Funeral Home, 21 Emerald St. (off Central St.), HINGHAM Friday at 9 AM. Funeral Mass in Saint Ann’s Church, Hull at 10 AM. Visiting hours Thursday 4-8 PM. Burial in St. Francis Xavier Cemetery, Weymouth. Mrs. Thorburn was a graduate of Hingham High School, Class of 1936. She was a three sport athlete, lettering in track, field hockey and basketball while only in her freshman year. After high school, she went to work for Baker’s Five and Dime in Hingham to help support her family. She spent the rest of her life creating a loving home for her husband, children and grandchildren. She enjoyed baking, flower gardening, knitting and reading. Nature, music and faith were very important parts of Mrs. Thorburn’s life. She took great comfort in her faith and often traveled throughout New England on foliage trips with her husband. She will be remembered as a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, sister and friend.
