Virginia M. Dedian

Dedian, Virginia M. (Jones) “Ginny” of Hingham, entered into eternal rest on October 12, 2023.

Ginny was born in Hull, MA, on July 21, 1931, to George P. Jones and Mary Antoinetta Taurasi. She was predeceased by her parents and her cherished brothers, George P. Jones, Jr. and Joseph Jones, all of whom she missed dearly.

Ginny married her late husband, Joseph F. Dedian in 1954 and they returned to Hingham in 1960, from Dorchester, to raise their family in the suburbs, amidst her huge extended family. Ginny was affectionately known for her “gift of gab” and proudly told everyone about her grandparents and mother, who emigrated to the US from Italy and settled in Hingham, near what is now Taurasi Road, which was named after them. Her family and friends were incredibly important to her and she always made sure they knew it with a phone call, a card or hand written note to let them know she was thinking about them.

Ginny was a member of the Hingham PM club for years and a proud member and former officer of the Hingham Sons of Italy, Women’s Guild. For years, she was a huge part of the fundraising for the scholarships that the Sons of Italy was able to give to high school students every year. She was also an Avon lady for close to 45 years and no one left her house without a small gift of hand cream, bubble bath or skin so soft.

Ginny is survived by her two daughters, Teresa Anne (Dedian) Routhier, her husband David Routhier and Stacey Marie Dedian-Young, her husband Victor Young, and her four beloved grandchildren, Lori (Routhier) Coleman, Nicholas Routhier, Joseph Eachus and Benjamin Eachus, all of whom she was so incredibly proud of. Even when her energy was flagging, her face would light up at hearing her grandchildren’s voices or their names. Ginny is also survived by her “bonus-daughter”, Kimberly (Zona) Vitagliano, whom she loved like her own.

She is also lovingly remembered by her many cherished cousins, nieces, nephews, neighbors and friends.

Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to greet the family during the visiting hours on Monday 4-8 PM in the Pyne Keohane Funeral Home, 21 Emerald St. (off Central St.), HINGHAM. A funeral home service will be Tuesday at 11 AM. Burial in St. Paul’s Cemetery, Hingham.
