On February 1, 2024, in Wynwood, Miami, Vincent made his last cup of coffee and started his day with a zest for life that only he possessed.
That morning, Vincent Paul Murphy, of Riverside, Ca., passed away peacefully in a community that he was thriving in. He was 64.
Born in Boston on July 3, 1959, the son of Charles Patrick Murphy and Louise (Crowley) Murphy. Vincent was raised in Rockland, Ma., an all star athlete in his youth. He went on to graduate from Boston College High School class of ‘77.
Vincent consistently chose to defy all odds medically, personally, and professionally and live his life in experience and not fear!
He had an unrivaled charisma, drive, intellect, and passion for every aspect of his life, including people, work, music, culture, travel, sports, journalism, food, education, and most importantly, his family and friends. He took immense pride in his children and their spouses and grandchildren. One of Vincent’s greatest gifts was his ability to accept himself and others graciously.
Few words can accurately capture his essence. He was the pillar of many lives, careers, structural developments, and businesses globally. A devout fan and believer in all Boston sports teams. His favorite coffee shop, Panther, said, “It was like the show Cheers – everyone knew his name, and he knew ours. He genuinely cared about us and what we liked about life.” He has left a void in so many lives and will be deeply missed by many worldwide.
Vincent is survived by his parents, Charles and Louise Murphy of Rockland, Ma. He was the loving brother of the late Charles P. Murphy, Jr. He is survived by Stephen Murphy, Barbara Bowen, Paul Murphy, and Susan Talkowski who will all miss their big brothers dearly.
He will forever be missed by his beloved children, Erin A. Munro, Benjamin M. Murphy, and Mollie E. Knight, and his one true love, Linda J. Williams.
Father-in-law to Shelby Murphy, John Munro, and Michael Knight. Papa of Aubree, Maelynn, Benjamin, Jack, Michael, and Autumn. Also survived by many nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins, and dear friends across New England, California, Florida, Costa Rica, Nicaragua, and Ireland.
Family and friends are respectfully invited to the Funeral Mass at Holy Family Church in Rockland, Ma. on March 15 at 9 am. Burial will follow in Holy Family Cemetery. Celebration of Life on March 16 at 5 pm at Rockland Golf Course.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Boston College High School Scholarship Fund that Vincent, class of ‘77, proudly supported.
