Vincent J. Mina, Sr. of Weymouth, died March 20, 2021 at the age of 85.
Born in Boston, formerly of Quincy, resided in Weymouth for 60 years. Vinny proudly served in the U.S. Army Reserves. Graduate of Quincy High School class of 1956 and attended Wentworth Institute, Boston, MA. His career was at Quincy Ship Yard as a pipe coverer until it closed. He went on to have a successful career as a general contractor. He was a member of the Sons of Italy since 20 years of age. Vinny was an avid college sports fan as well as a Green Bay Packers fan. His passion was collecting antique clocks from all over the world, where he made many worldly friends and contacts. He also could often be found gardening and caring for his home. His love for his land and maple syrup production in Vermont was close to his heart. Vinny’s family was the foundation of his happiness and he will be deeply missed.
Beloved husband of 59 years to Gayle (Giagrande) Mina of Weymouth. Devoted father of Diane Mina of Hull, Vincent J. Mina and his wife Lewann of Quincy and Deborah Mina of Weymouth, brother of Anne Savage of Hanson. Cherished Grandpa of John, Tony, Michael, Ralph, Timothy, Scott and great-grand children Giabella, Lily and Brady. Brother in Law to Jean Giangrande, devoted nephew to Margaret Conte and many cousins, nieces and nephews.
Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend the visiting hours on Friday 4-7 pm in the McDonald Keohane Funeral Home South Weymouth at 809 Main Street ( Rte. 18 opp. So.Shore Hospital).
Relatives and friends will gather in the funeral home at 9:30 AM on Saturday prior to the Funeral Mass in Immaculate Conception Church, Weymouth at 10:30 AM.
Burial in Fairmount Cemetery, Weymouth.
In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Vinny may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
Normally, the funeral is an opportunity for the community to gather in support of one another. If you are unable to gather together with Vinny’s family at this time, friends may still offer their support by clicking the link above and sharing a special memory or message.
