Victor L. Macneil

MacNeil, Victor L. of Hingham, passed away September 17, 2012. Beloved husband of Ann E. (McDonald)MacNeil. Loving father of Michael A. MacNeil and Graham A. MacNeil both of Hingham, and the late Susan MacNeil Varney. Brother of Raymond R. MacNeil of Wayne, PA and the late William L. MacNeil. Grandfather of Sarah Varney of Hingham. Father-in-law of Thomas Varney of Hingham. Victor was born in Boston and was a graduate of Boston English High School. He received his B.A. and Masters degree from Boston University. He was a Korean War veteran serving with the United States Army. He was one of the original faculty members of Massasoit Community College and the chairman of the social science department. Victor had lived in Hingham for over 40 years. An avid sports fan, he loved to watch all of the Boston sports teams. Victor was a member of both the YMCA in Boston as a young child and later in Brockton where he enjoyed playing handball. He also enjoyed reading and going to the beach. He will be missed by all those who had the pleasure of knowing him. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend the visiting hours on Thursday 4-8 PM in the Pyne Keohane Funeral Home, 21 Emerald St. (off Central St.), HINGHAM. Funeral services will be celebrated on Friday at 11 AM in Pyne Keohane Funeral Home, Hingham. Burial will be private. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Home for Little Wanderers, 161 Huntington Avenue, Jamaica Plain, MA 02130
