Victor Pascarelli, a retired foreman of the Boston Globe electrical shop died yesterday after a brief illness (November 16, 2005) at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center. Mr. Pascarelli, son of Dominic and Edna (Clays) Pascarelli was born in Boston in 1934. As a youngster, Victor was a standout athlete for St, Matthews Parish in Dorchester and later became a 3-sport star at Dorchester High School and an All City League All Star in Baseball and Football. He was awarded the prestigious Key Club award by the Kiwanis Club. Following High School, he was invited to tryout for the Boston Braves professional baseball team, before entering college at University of Massachusetts, where he played football. Mr. Pascarelli joined the Marines in 1954, served active duty until 1957 and was in the Marine reserves through 1962. In 1957, before he left active duty he married Mary MacPhee. Victor joined the electrical worker’s union as a construction electrician in 1957, began working at the Globe in 1966, and served as the foreman of the electrical department, retiring in December of 1994. Mr. Pascarelli and his wife Mary moved to Hull in 1961 where they raised their five children. In Hull, Mr. Pascarelli continued his involvement with sports by coaching St. Mary’s Crusaders football, helping to found the Hull Youth Football Association, and leading the Hull Youth Hockey program. Victor enjoyed coaching kids and positively impacted the lives of many Hull youths even before his children began playing organized sports. After retiring from the Globe, Mr. Pascarelli kept himself busy with gardening, painting, woodworking and other projects around the house. He enjoyed visiting his grandchildren and watching them play sports. Victor and Mary enjoyed traveling and were regular visitors to Mary’s hometown on Prince Edward Island. He is survived by his beloved wife of 48 years Mary G. (MacPhee) of Hull. Loving father of Diane of Hull, Victor, Jr. and his wife Alison of Dover, John and his wife Gail of NY, James and his wife Kathy of Hanover and Michael of Randolph. Brother of Phyllis Marshall of Hull. Also survived by 12 grandchildren, 1 great grandson and many nieces and nephews. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend the funeral from the Pyne Keohane Funeral Home 21 Emerald St. (off Central St.), HINGHAM Saturday at 9 AM. Funeral Mass in Saint Ann’s Church, HULL at 10 AM. Visiting hours Friday 4-8 PM. Burial in Hull Village Cemetery, Hull.
