Doucette, Una May “Eunice” (Kooleshevich) of Squantum, died March 29, 2014.
Eunice was born in Rockhampton, Australia. She was a war bride and met her husband Russell during WWII as he flew with the U.S. Army Air Corp. They later settled in the Squantum section of Quincy where they raised their family. Family was the focal point of her life and she truly enjoyed taking care of them, whether at celebrations, family activities or keeping everyone well fed with her delicious meals. Her neighbors gave her great comfort and a sense of community. They looked out for one another and supported each other throughout their lives. An intelligent woman, she was ahead of her time in the workplace, and excelled for over 30 years as a Loan Officer with Boston Five Cent Savings Bank. She enjoyed traveling and was nourished by the sounds and smells of the ocean and her garden. Eunice was a unique character who enjoyed telling stories. Her strength came from her upbringing in Australia as well as the difficulties they over came during the war years.
Adored wife of the late Russell J. Doucette. Adoring mother of Jan S. Doucette of Weymouth, and Niki Cocio and her husband Danny of Squantum. Sister of Rose Guinan of Australia, Tim Kooleshevich and his wife Judy of MD and the late Lula, Zanka, and Ellie. Adoring grandmother of Adam Cocio and his wife Theresa of Hanson, and Jana Asadoorian and her husband Ara of Quincy. Adoring great grandmother of Brady Richard Cocio, Sophey Grace Cocio, Antonella Rose Asadoorian, and Delaney Cullen. Also survived by many nieces and nephews in the United States and Australia.
Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend the visiting hours on Wednesday 4-8 PM in the Keohane Funeral Home, 785 Hancock St., QUINCY. A Celebration of Life Service will be held in the funeral home at 9:15 AM on Thursday prior to the Funeral Mass in St. Ann’s Church, Quincy at 10 AM. Burial in Blue Hill Cemetery, Braintree.
In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Mrs. Doucette may be made to the Russell J. Doucette Memorial Scholarship Fund at Massachusetts College of Art, 621 Huntington Avenue, Boston, MA 02115.
