McCarthy, Thomas W. of Quincy, died February 26, 2014, from complications following surgery.

Tom was 59. The beloved husband of 33 years to Linda Smith McCarthy of Quincy. Brother of James McCarthy and his wife Marianne of NJ. Son in Law of Raymond Smith of Quincy. Brother in Law of Martin and Jane Smith of Beverly. Uncle of Brian, James, Gregory and Christopher McCarthy and Danielle Bruni and her husband Steven. Tom was the great uncle to Connor and nephew of Ellen Sciog of Westwood. He also leaves behind many many cousins scattered everywhere.

Tom grew up in Dorchester and moved to Quincy 40 years ago. He loved to travel, especially to St. Maarten and enjoyed following New England Sports teams.  He graduated from Boston Technical High School. Tom was employed by Harvard University as a pressman for many years. He served on the Executive Board of Graphic Communication International Union Local 600 and was a member of the Quincy Sons of Italy and the Quincy Elks. Tom will be remembered as a devoted friend who had a heart of gold and was always ready to lend a helping hand. He will be sadly missed by all those who were fortunate to have known him. 

Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend the visiting hours on Sunday 2-6 PM in the Keohane Funeral Home, 785 Hancock St., QUINCY.

A Celebration of Life Service will be held in the funeral home at 9:15 AM on Monday prior to the Funeral Mass in St. Ann’s Church, Quincy at 10 AM. Cremation will follow. 

In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Tom may be made to Esther Sanger for Compassion Center 282 Billings Road, Quincy, MA 02170.
