Thomas R. “Bobby” Lucas of Braintree formerly of Dedham passed away March 6,2013 at the age of 91.

Beloved husband for 64 years to the late Lillian (Wolinsky) Lucas. Bob served in the Army during WWII as a Staff Sargeant, First Airborne Infantry, 550th Glider Pilot Regiment, Battle of the Bulge. While in combat, Bob was shot through the chest, healed, and returned to combat, ultimately to become a POW MIA for several months. Bob received a Purple Heart & a Purple Heart with Oak leaf clusters. Bob was a MDC Police Officer serving from 1954-1986. He started in the Blue Hills Division and transferred shortly afterwards to South Boston, Old Colony Division where he spent the remainder of his career retiring as a Massachusetts State Trooper.

Bob was the devoted father two children, his daughter Patricia Girard & husband Kenneth of Braintree & his son Stephen Lucas of Norton. He was also the cherished Papa of Ross, Hayley & Devon Lucas. Bob was the beloved brother of Mary “Lou-Lou” Smith of CA. & the late Francis “Sonny” Lucas, Ruthy Fuller & William Lucas. He is also survived by many loving nieces, nephews, family members, neighbors & friends.

Funeral Mass in the Sacred Heart Church, Weymouth Landing Tuesday at 11:00 O’clock. Relatives & friends invited. Visitation prior to Mass 9:00-10:30 AM in the South Weymouth McDonald Funeral  Home 809 Main St. (RT.18 opp. South Shore Hospital). Interment Knollwood Memorial Park, Canton.
