Byrnes, Thomas N., Jr. of Hingham, August 13, 2006. Husband of Barbara L. (Hill) of Hingham. father of Thomas N. Byrnes, III of Quincy and Neill M. Byrnes and his wife Tricia of Hingham. Brother of Rev. John Byrnes of PA, Paul Byrnes of CA, Marie Deeley of FL, Clare Fahy of Wollaston and Susan Struzzula of Squantum. Also survived by 5 grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend the funeral from the Pyne Keohane Funeral Home, 21 Emerald St., HINGHAM, Thursday at 9 AM. Funeral Mass in Church of the Resurrection, Hingham at 10 AM. Visiting hours Wednesday 2-4 & 7-9 PM. Burial in Saint Paul’s Cemetery, Hingham. Donations in memory of Mr. Byrnes may be made to the Atty. Thomas N. Byrnes, Jr. Scholarship Fund, c/o Citizens Bank, 371 Hancock St., N. Quincy MA 02171. Mr. Byrnes graduated from North Quincy High School Class of 1944, where he was active in Football. He was a naval veteran of World War II serving in the Pacific where he received a Purple Heart and wore the Presidential Citation. He was enrolled in the V12 program and graduated from Columbia University where he was on the championship rowing team. He graduated from Boston University Law School and practiced law in Quincy for 52 Years. He never retired, as he practiced up until January of this year. Mr. Byrnes was past president of the Quincy Bar Association, one of the founders of the Democratic Party of Quincy and a life long member of the Quincy YMCA for which he recently received recognition. Tom was an avid golfer and skier, and boxed during his days in the Navy. He was also a member of the Lions Club of Quincy. He gave generously to many catholic and non denominational charities. Mr. Byrnes was a devout member of the Catholic Church of the Resurrection of Hingham. He was a gentleman, loved by all, and will be deeply missed. Tom truly was a gentleman in every sense… God Bless Him.
