Swan, Thomas M. of S. Weymouth, passed away Sunday, January 27, 2013 at the age of 89.

Tom was born in South Boston, raised in Dorchester and has lived in Weymouth for the last 36 years. He proudly served in the U.S. Coast Guard during WWII. He worked as both an ironworker and MBTA trackman for many years. He was a member of the National Rifle Association and various gun clubs. He was a member of the former American Legion Kane Post in Dorchester and the VFW Post in Abington. Tom and his wife were very active parishioners in St. Peter’s Church in Dorchester and Tom was also on their color guard team. In his early years he enjoyed motorcycling and rollerskating and was an avid train collector. He enjoyed Irish music, parades, walking around Castle Island and at Nantasket beach. He spent many family vacations at Newfound Lake in Bristol, NH. He will be sadly missed.

Beloved husband of 59 years to Mary E. (Bellew) Swan of S. Weymouth. Devoted father of M. Beth (Swan) Brogna of Westwood and Susan (Jablonski) Swan of Marshfield, all formerly of Dorchester. Cherished Papa of Derek and Jason Brogna of Westwood, Kristin, Nick and Matt Jablonski of Lakeville. Son of the late John M. and Susan F. (Quealy) Swan. Loving brother of Lillian Walsh of Stoughton and the late Mary C. Barry, John Swan and Frances McGrath. Also survived by many nieces and nephews.  

Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend the visiting hours on Friday 3-8 PM in the McDonald Funeral Home SOUTH WEYMOUTH at 809 Main Street (Rte 18 opp. So. Shore Hosp.)  Relatives and friends will gather in the funeral home at 9 AM on Saturday prior to the Funeral Mass in St. Francis Xavier Church, Weymouth at 10 AM. Burial in Blue Hill Cemetery, Braintree.

Donations in memory of Thomas may be made to American Lung Assoc. of MA, 460 Totten Pond Road, Waltham, MA 02451.
